Here you will find 40 scenarios prepared by students from 10 Danish folk-high schools from October 2002 to March 2003.
We asked the students to choose a theme at each school that is relevant for Danish and European democracy. We asked them to point out the factors that influence the development within their theme in the next coming 10 years. From of these factors we selected the framework of 4 different future scenarios.
On a theme day at each school the students worked on the development of future scenarios.
The following pages demonstrate their proposals of how the world would look like in 2012. The students received input papers for each theme, outlining its scope.
The first text on the scenarios pages part is the framework of the scenario. The remaining part of the text is our revision of the student’s scenarios. They are very different, but together they outline possible courses of future events. The stories can work as a fine inspiration for the debate on the EU constitution – and as debates on the future of democracy.
This project was financed jointly with high schools, the “NGO-center of the Danish EU-presidency” and the Danish Board for EU Enlightenment. The project was realised by Hanne Dahl and Jakob Erle.
